Why is Teacher's Day celebrated in Paraguay

Every April 30 the Paraguayan Teacher's Day is celebrated in our country; a very special date that seeks to pay tribute to all the men and women who have contributed enormously in preparing future generations in Paraguay for a productive life.

During Teacher's Day, it is common for institutions, students, parents and the whole of society in general to pay tribute to all teachers who, thanks to their sacrifice, effort, contribution and education, train the professionals of tomorrow. But, do you know why Teacher's Day is celebrated on April 30 ?

How was Teacher's Day born in Paraguay?

Teacher's Day is celebrated on April 30 because during the Educators' Congress held in Paraguay in 1915, it was decided to establish Teacher's Day on the last day of April as the eve of Worker's Day.

One of the outstanding teachers in history was Delfín Chamorro; journalist and professor, considered the most important grammarian in Paraguay . This revolutionized the teaching of the Spanish language by creating more pedagogical learning methods that made learning possible.

Chamorro is identified as a disciple of the Paraguayan Andrés Bello, another outstanding educator who left a great mark on the national teaching profession and on the teaching of the language. Teacher's Day is celebrated in honor of these outstanding teachers and all others who are committed to human formation.
